Summary: This is a really sweet cabin with a beautiful mix of antique and modern furnishings. It was clean and well-stocked. The time spent indoors was lovely. However, we had also hoped to spend time outdoors on the property and walk down to the water or to the state park, but found that the huge population of mosquitos in the yard made that unappealing. We actually ran between the car and the home to avoid being mobbed by the mosquitos. I'm not sure what, if anything, the owners could do about this. But future guests should plan to spend time indoors or away from the property, not outdoors on or near the property. Overall I still enjoyed my stay here.

Summary: Arriving at the cabin, don’t be deterred by the “No Trespassing” sign before it. Otherwise getting there was painless. When checking in the outside was nice and wooded to give plenty of privacy from any of the neighbors. The cabin itself was very well stocked in terms of toiletries and kitchen supplies. The only big cons in this stay was the cleanliness. The bedding was not clean with hair from other people still present when we pulled the blanket down to inspect. A lot of dust and spiderwebs throughout. Overall, it was a little on the pricey side for only two nights stay, but if the price reduced I could see myself staying at this location again.

Summary: The cabin was beautiful in a very private and nice location but the all the kitchen appliances and utensils were dirty and not well kept, the stove did not turn on properly with any of the pots or pans that were provided. The bed sheets were dirty and dusty. Something to be aware of is that everything in this cabin is old.

Summary: The cabin is beautiful, location great, but it needs improvements. From my experience, properties managed by companies and not directly by the owners are always like this. The AC didn't work, I reported it but no one contacted me back, thanks God only the first day was sunny and hot. We just kicked off the covers and opened the windows after mosquitoes calmed down. Mosquitoes, you would expect screened window, but the screens are broken or absent. The sink leaks, it has a bowl underneath to collect the sink water, you have to watch it or it will overflow into the kitchen floor. I was in vacation mindset so I didn't make a problem of this, but the cabin needs maintenance quickly.

Summary: The good: This is a neat little house that is far off the beaten track. The decks are big and would be great in good weather. The house was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and even coffee and filters. The bathroom is really cool. There is a framed artwork on the wall that I was astonished to see. It was an odd black and white print of an 1891 painting by a Russian/Ukrainian artist named Ilya Repin. For Americans who don't teach art history (or study Russian art), it is obscure. It's Repin's first version, called Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. All the lights in the house were on when we arrived in the dark, which was thoughtful and appreciated! It's a pretty area when it isn't raining, and nearby Fort Flagler is interesting. It's very quiet out there, and if the stars are out, they are beautiful. We saw a doe with two fawns in the yard. Things you should know: The road to the house is fine until the last stretch, where we saw a big "No Trespassing" sign. Ignore it and keep driving up the steep hill to get to the house. The last stretch of road is overgrown with tall shrubs and weeds that we had to plow through, which scratched the sides of the car. We pulled up in the dark and parked in the single space in the driveway. I got out and discovered that the front yard was a swamp. There is an overgrown firepit in the middle of the swamp, which obviously wasn't useable during a damp July. Clouds of mosquitos attacked us so we ran up the stairs to the door. Luckily, we had no trouble with the lock on the front door. The upstairs loft has two bedroom areas that are not separated by walls, and the whole loft is open to the rest of the house. There is no privacy in this house. When we went out to do some exploring around the property the next morning, the mosquitos were waiting and we were breakfast. I made it to the side yard and discovered an abandoned boat full of water, which was the source of many of the mosquitos. We didn't end up spending much time outside.
